We survived January. The month of clean living when everyone tries *ahem* sobriety and vows to eat as healthily as possible. We’ve turned our back on winter (yesss) but this year we’re hanging onto one of our January habits. Eating well is no longer a short term gruelling goal, for many of us it’s becoming a considered long term lifestyle choice. 2016 defiantly appears to be the dawning of the age of Healtharius (you heard it here first!).
Luckily, healthy, exciting, sustainable food choices are everywhere we turn. Deciding what to eat at home, out and about or at an event is increasingly about treating your body as well as your taste buds.
Here’s some of the foodie trends we expect to be sampling this year. Heads up all you decadent food lovers, it may be a shock to the system!
Little pickle - If it’s not moving, ferment it!
Evil Sugar – apparently we’re all better off with honey or syrups
Hawaii – marinated fish, grilled meats, pineapple, rum – ALOHA
Seaweed – move over Kale your time is up.
Funky condiments – it’s all about interesting and diverse sauces from all over the world
Spiral vegetables – aka Zoodles, yes correct Zoodles
So there you have it, some trends to consider this year. Mind you we are creatures of habit so let’s see how these fare by November! For ideas and inspiration check out our pinterest gallery…
